Your Dog, My Art = Joy Forever!
I woke up early this morning to the sound of rain on my window. I could have stayed in bed for a little while longer, because we all know there's no better sleep than on a rainy morning. But I love the rain, especially sitting on my front porch wrapped in a blanket with a steaming cup of coffee. With me are three dogs and two cats, the six of us, very present in the moment. We watch as the rain runs in rivers across the front yard, and when the wind blows we all turn our head to avoid the cold mist from spraying our faces. I realize I can learn a lot from these furry friends, they live in the moment and take life as it comes. They don't dwell on the past and they aren't anxious about the future. I think reflection is a good thing, obsessing about is not, and likewise planning for the future is good, fretting about what hasn't happened yet is so much wasted energy. It is true I have a few more responsibilities than these guys, but they do their jobs also and they never complain. Patrolling the yard, digging massive holes to rid us of gophers, (they have yet to catch any) and listening to me ramble all day is their job and they ask little in return. A good meal, a soft bed and a belly scratch, In the end isn't that all we really need? So I will sit hear a while longer and be still, be present and thankful for this day.
